Bringing a Global Team Together
Gridpal/Gridmate is a company specializing in Salesforce UI/UX and data management solutions, with a global team across the U.S., France, the Netherlands, Australia, and Sri Lanka. With many employees never having met in person, and new employees who joined last year that haven’t met their manager yet, the company wanted to bring their team together in person.

The goal was to bring everybody together to one place, spending an entire work-week together to mix strategic sessions about the upcoming years with team building activities. To accomplish this, Gridmate partnered with us to organize a successful company retreat between January 9th and 14th, 2025. Gridmate’s 14 team members from different countries gathered for a five-night retreat in Bangkok.
Gridmate’s Successful Retreat
Our team ensured that every aspect of the retreat was tailored to meet Gridmate’s objectives and needs. This included everything from start to finish: planning the retreat schedule, selecting an ideal venue, organizing transportation, and curating a balance of work sessions and engaging activities on site. By handling all the logistics, we saved the company valuable time allowing their team to focus entirely on their own work while we set up this retreat to enhance their collaboration, learning, and team bonding.

Why Bangkok as Their Team Retreat Destination?
Bangkok has a dynamic city life, modern infrastructure, and rich culture, which was a perfect fit for the goals of this retreat. The city offered an environment where the Gridmates team could work efficiently while also experiencing new adventures together, getting to know each other even better.
Their team stayed at Mövenpick Hotel Sukhumvit which is a hotel located in central Bangkok. It offered the perfect environment for their work sessions as it has modern meeting spaces with everything you need for successful teamwork. Not only that, it also has a rooftop lounge perfect for informal bonding, and comfortable living spaces, which all in all allowed the team to stay productive while enjoying their time in a new city.
The Agenda: A Mix of Work and Experience
Their retreat schedule was designed to include time for work sessions and team-building activities while also incorporating moments for personal team bonding and local experiences.
The retreat went as follows:
Day 1: Welcome Lunch and Dinner
The team members arrived in Bangkok and were welcomed by our concierge team on-site. They took them to the hotel where the team checked in and got time to recharge before starting the retreat.
First up was a welcome lunch at Lelawadee Restaurant where the team could have their first in-person connections in a relaxed setting. They then had some time to settle in and bond further at the hotel before they went to Market Café for dinner.

Day 2: Internal Work Sessions
The second day started with breakfast at the hotel, followed by an internal work session that continued throughout the day. The energy was fueled by coffee-breaks and a refreshing lunch at the hotel.
When the workday was wrapped up, the team had time to relax and get ready to head out for dinner at C&C restaurant where they got a chance to wind down and connect.
Day 3: Team-Building in Pattaya
This was an activity day for the team, to mix up the working sessions with some bonding experiences. They headed to Pattaya after breakfast, where they had an exciting team-building activity waiting for them at Jomtien Beach. This was the Beach Olympics Challenge, that is designed to improve teamwork, problem-solving, and friendly competition within teams.

After a successful activity session, the team had lunch at RIVA Restaurant to refuel for the next adventure of the day. A private catamaran tour was scheduled for the team to experience an Island Hopping activity in the afternoon until sunset. This is a fun experience that gives team members a moment to bond outside of work. The day finished off with a team dinner before going back to Bangkok in the evening.

Day 4: Strategic Work Sessions Part 2
Back in the city, the team had another day of internal work sessions. As the previous work session day, the meetings included multiple coffee breaks and a lunch break to keep the energy high. The day finished off with a stunning rooftop dinner at Pastel Rooftop Bar & Dining.
Day 5: The Ultimate Team Challenge
The team had an Amazing Race Challenge planned at Wanglang Market, which is an exciting activity that enhances communication, creativity, and teamwork within corporate teams.
After a successful team activity and lunch at Ton Makok Restaurant, the team headed back to the hotel to spend some free time before having a closing team huddle at the rooftop lounge. It was wrapped up with another team dinner, letting the participants relax and bond before taking off.

Day 6: Reflection and Departure
On the final morning of the retreat, the team enjoyed another breakfast together before having personal time to explore the city and hotel, then heading to the airport for departure.
